Why can I only stake on the first day of each cycle?
Before production can begin, REBEL smart contracts need to have a fixed amount of stakers and their stakes to accurately calculate the reward for that cycle depending on the laws in place. If the stakers were able to stake at any time in the cycle, it would make accurately tracking all stakers interests in the pool and dilution impossible without an L2 solution for our smart contracts.
Why is production stopped on voting day?
Production is stopped on voting day to provide ample time for stakers to withdraw their profits for the week, without having to worry about timing their withdrawal strategically to maximize profits. If production continued until the final moments of the 7th day of the cycle, it would mean a loss of potential profits by whoever did not withdraw their rewards in time.
Can my stake be diluted in the middle of a cycle?
No, as staking can only be done on the first day of each cycle. When production begins on the second day of the cycle, your staking reward rate is effectively 'locked in' for the remainder of the cycle. Your stake can only be diluted on the staking day.
Are taxes collected every day?
Yes, taxes are always being collected 24/7 (just like in the real world!). However, taxes collected in Week 1 are not accessible until Week 2. Taxes collected in Week 2 cannot be distributed/staked/burned until Week 3, and the cycle continues. Every time a new cycle begins, the value for the Tax Pool amount, Production amount, and Tax proceeds must be known and fixed, which is decided by voters.
